A few days ago, I downloaded some recording software to do my Slender video, and I had no idea what any of it would be like. I had never recorded any of my gameplay until that point, so I downloaded a free program that seemed to have some good recommendations on Yahoo! Answers. Well, I’m going to tell you more about liteCam HD because I enjoy using it, it’s simple, and although it may not be the most professional/have the most features, it only costs $29 and it does its job well. (Note, the software also comes with a 30 day free trial.)
The first thing I want to say is that liteCam runs well even on my not-so-great computer. I’m able to run Slender and liteCam at the same time without hiccups. It has different settings for fullscreen game recording, general video recording, and a completely adjustable screen sizer that lets you pick exactly how much of your screen you want to record, right down to the pixel. One thing to note is that liteCam only records sound from the game if you have a good enough sound card and audio driver, which I don’t have, although it does record microphone inputs. For my purposes, I simply set the microphone in front of my speaker and let it pick up sound that way.
LiteCam has a host of other features as well; you can add a logo to your video, a title or credit screen, adjust the frames per second, audio quality, and other variables as well. You can also record through your webcam at the same time with liteCam, and after it’s all said and done, you can even add an audio file to the video for background music or other purposes.
As I said before, I’ve never used any recording software, so I don’t have any idea what other programs are like. However, as a beginner, this is a great piece of free software for me as it’s easy to use, even easier to learn, and it runs well on my computer. What more can I ask?
