I’m part of OU’s class of 2019, and I intend to graduate with a minor in marketing and a certificate in social media alongside my bachelor’s in journalism.
I’ve been reading and writing since I was three years old, and I’ve been gaming for almost as long. It wasn’t until high school that I decided to smash the two together for a viable career path.
On August 19, 2013, when I was a junior in high school, I started my first blog, My Opinion as a Gamer. I focused on editorial topics but eventually branched into other types of writing as well. The posts from this blog are available under the aptly named “Blog Posts” tab of this website. My reviews can be found under the “Game Reviews” tab.
In mid-January of 2014, I was invited to write for Gamers Sphere, a larger website consisting of several writers and video producers. I continue to write there as a Senior Editor. I perform various duties from reporting to PR, and I have previously tried video production with varying levels of success.
At Gamers Sphere, I’ve interviewed a variety of people from developing companies such as Roll_7 Studios (Not a Hero, OlliOlli) and Housemarque Studios (Outland, RESOGUN). I’ve stepped into the entertainment industry with interviews with GRAMMY winner Glen Slater, BattleBots Season 6 runner-up Ray Billings, and The Walking Dead star Chad L. Coleman.
I currently write the occasional game review for The Post, a student newspaper at Ohio University. During the first half of my freshman year, I was a culture reporter for the paper as well. You can click on this link to see an archive of all my work at The Post.
My newest and largest project is serving as the PR Manager for GuessworkVR, an indie game development studio with a focus on virtual reality content. The team is currently developing its first game, UNDR[H2O], and it’s my job to get the word out about the project through our social media pages and website. I began working with the team in April 2016, but my role is minimal at the moment, as the team is still early in development. I’m currently working behind the scenes on an all-encompassing PR plan for a larger media blitz for when the time is right. As the one-man marketing and PR contact, I have great ideas to get our game in the public eye in the coming months.
I have great verbal communication skills and have won state-level awards for my public speaking roles at conventions and competitions. I qualified as a semi-finalist and competed in a national competition in early 2015 and have presented at conventions in front of hundreds.
Some of my other skills include news and press release writing, editing, familiarity with developing a PR plan, time management, and the ability to learn new programs and applications quickly.
This is only a small sampling of my life so far, but there’s plenty more to learn about me. More information can be found in other tabs on my site. If there’s more you’d like to know, contact me via any of my personal or company contacts below.
